Article summary

A Data source in Bobsled connection to the data provider's data location, a bucket containing files, or a data warehouse with tables. You can set up Sources in Bobsled to access the data you want to send to a consumer via a Share. Once you have a source set up, you can easily configure a share to use it so a single source can be used across multiple shares and consumers.

NOTE:
What you can see and do will differ based on your role and permissions.

  • Name: An internal-only name given to a data source

  • Source: The product source (e.g., Amazon S3, Snowflake, etc.)

  • Status: Information at a glance about the status of the data source

  • Created by: Who is the author of the connection, user, or programmatic

  • Test connection: An ad hoc action that performs a test and checks the state of the connection

Data source status

Bobsled provides information at a glance about your source connection—note that these may not all be observed, depending on your specific Source. These are organized in the following manner:

  • Created (gray): The source connection has been created in Bobsled—the setup is incomplete or there is a grace period before the next status

  • Setting up (blue): The initial connection to a given source

  • Indexing (blue): Currently indexing data—this may impact the data selection during creating or editing a data transfer

  • Connected (green): The data source is connected without errors, and is available to be selected and used in a given share

  • Error (red): There is an issue with the connection or credentials regarding this source connection.

TIP:
The ‘Error’ state can be troubleshooted by clicking on the Test connection button. Once it performs the test, it will relay information about the source error. If the problem persists, reach out to your account team to assist you.
