Okta setup

Article summary

This article explains how to set up Okta as an identity provider for Bobsled. Doing so will allow your organization to grant users access to Bobsled through their existing Okta accounts.


Prerequisites

  • You will need to be an Okta administrator (to set up a new application) and a Bobsled admin (to read configuration values). Once Okta has been setup, Bobsled support can perform the final setup to switch on the integration.


Setup guide

  1. Once logged into Bobsled, select Environment in the left sidebar, and scroll down to Authentication. The Service provider Entity ID and Application callback URL will be used in the Okta application setup.


  2. Next, open up the Okta Admin platform, and select Applications. Click Create New App

  3. Select SAML 2.0, click Next


  4. Choose a name for your your app, and click Next

  1. Next, copy the values you found earlier in the Bobsled Environment screen.

    • Copy Application callback URL from Bobsled into Single sign-on URL in Okta

    • Copy Service Provider ID from Bobsled into Audience URI (SP Entity ID) in Okta

    • Click Next


  2. Select I'm on Okta customer adding an internal app and then click Next


  3. In the next screen, scroll down and click View SAML setup instructions in the right sidebar:

  4. Share all three values in grey boxes with Bobsled support, and they will enable the integration:

    • Identity Provider Single Sign-On URL

    • Identity Provider Issuer

    • X.509 Certificate


  5. Assign Okta users to the application:

    • Make sure those users also exist in the Bobsled Members page too.


  6. You have now successfully setup your Okta, Bobsled integration You will see a new option appear on your Bobsled login screen.
