The Revoke Access feature allows you to create Time-Limited Data Shares, with automatic expiration, enhancing security and compliance.
AUTO-REVOKING SHARE ACCESS PRIVATE PREVIEW (September 2024)
Feature is in private preview. It is suitable for certain production workloads but may not be appropriate for all use cases. For guidance, contact your account representative.
Creating a Share with an End Date
Available for all Bobsled-managed destinations (excluding External SFTP and External buckets):
Access the Share section
Choose your source (e.g., GCP) and destination (e.g., Snowflake)
Set required permissions for data transfer
Select the data for transfer
In the review screen, locate and specify a future End Date for access expiration
Finalize by creating the transfer
NOTE:
Setting the end date to “tomorrow” will revoke access at 00:00 UTC of the following day.
Automatic Actions on End Date
When the End Date is reached, the system will automatically:
Change the transfer status to "Paused"
Revoke access permissions for all associated destination accounts
This ensures timely cessation of data sharing and maintains security and policy compliance.
Reinstating Access
To restore access after revocation:
Go to transfer settings
Edit the transfer details
Set a new future End Date
Save changes to reactivate the transfer
NOTE:
Your consumer may need to repeat the steps to consume the data transfer according to the destination.
Verifying Auto-Revoke Process in Logs
To confirm successful auto-revocation:
Navigate to the Logs section
Find the entry confirming data transfer revocation as per the set End Date
